FPC . . . a thriving church
Thriving describes First Presbyterian Church's urban congregation of 4,700 members. We are located in the heart of Houston, in an area known as the museum district. As we seek to be a more lay-driven church, our staff are to be coaches and nurturers of the gifts of our members. We have a long way to grow, but we’re on our way. Our staff is organized into ministry leadership teams with a pastor or ministry director heading up each area of ministry. Sunday School classrooms are transformed into school classrooms during the week as students aged two years old through eighth grade are engaged in learning at Presbyterian School. Presbyterian School was founded in 1988. Its mission is "Family, Church and School united in the education and support of each child."
