Summer Trips 2014
The FPC Youth Staff is pleased to announce to you our summer trip locations and dates for the summer of 2014! A lot of prayer and planning goes in to these trips!
HS Mission Trip
Dates: June 7-16
Location: Washington D.C.
Grades:9-12 (Students who have finished freshman year through students who have finished their senior year)
Many of our students have been to Washington D.C. to see the White House, Washington Monument the Lincoln Memorial. However, most of our students have not experienced the extreme poverty in our nation's capital. We are excited to introduce our students to how powerful it can be to serve the poor in a large, urban city. We are also excited to introduce our students to the D.C. based International Justice Mission, a ministry to help free sexual slaves. We hope to work with powerfully anointed local churches such as National Community Church and Capital Hill Baptist church to experience the strategic ways they aim to serve the poor and forgotten people of the city. Our mission trip is always one of the most powerful weeks of our entire year and we hope all of our students will carve out space for this annually epic experience.
9th & 10th grade Adventure Trip
Dates: June 23-July 1
Location: Seattle, Washington (The San Juan Islands)
Grades: 9-10 (Students who have finished their freshman year and students who have finished their sophomore year)
Throughout the past decade FPC has developed a special ministry partnership with a family of Christian outdoor adventure guides from Washington. Our friends the Corson's will be guiding us through yet another incredible experience in the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2014. We really believe in the power of our outdoor adventure trips and this year we are thrilled to be headed back to Washington for an epic sea kayaking, hiking, biking tour through the gorgeous San Juan Islands. We will white water raft, paddle in the ocean among seals and even whales (from a safe distance), and bike and hike on some of the most scenic islands in America. We will have gourmet meals, epic ocean side worship times, and there will be plenty of space for the cultivation of critical relationships to develop. We love watching God operate when our students leave their cell phones behind and sit in His presence for daily powerful encounters with Jesus.
11th & 12th grade Adventure Trip
Dates: July 23-31
Location: Grand Canyon
Grades: 11-12 (Students who have finished their junior year and students who have finished their senior year)
We are thrilled to be headed back to the Grand Canyon this year with Solid Rock Outdoor Ministries, who will lead us on breathtaking hikes through the Grand Canyon. This time in God's spectacular creation, along with concentrated time in the Scriptures, allows us to prepare our juniors for their senior year and launch our college students off to their respective campuses with renewed hearts and minds that have been shaped by God's Word. We feel this will be a powerful soul keeping trip at a key time in the lives of our juniors and seniors.
Location: Hunt, Texas
Dates: July 10-13
Grades: 6-12 (Students who are entering sixth grade through students that have finished their senior year)
Every year our entire church gathers in the hill country for this relational and spiritually stimulating church-wide retreat. Students of all ages are welcome to attend this annual event that beautifully unites all the generations within our congregation.
